Fergus Feilden and Edmund Fowles met while studying at Cambridge and soon discovered shared passions for architecture, cycling and design. This led to several successful competition entries at University level and the foundations of the partnership.

Our first large commission came as we graduated from Part I and was to design an environmental home in Wales. This project, Ty Pren, launched our partnership and fired our ambitions to be an exceptionally green practice. Our commitment to sustainable design is three-fold; underpinning our approach to each project, profoundly affecting the completed buildings we deliver, and informing our own behaviour as individuals.

Our practice has a strong intellectual culture. We are concerned with the ethereal and philosophical as well as the nuts and bolts of construction. Over the last two years, the practice has expanded both in terms of the range of commissions and members of the team. This offers a wider range of skills; greater expertise in sustainable design, computer simulations, knowledge of specialist construction systems and physical modelling with our in-house model maker.
